“'The Last of Us Part I' just hit a new record-low price in the PlayStation Store. SAVE $20.03: The PlayStation Store has The Last of Us Part I on sale as its Deal of the Week. Grab a copy of the Standard Edition for the record-low of $49.69 (normally $69.99), or upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition for $59.99 (typically $79.99).”

“The Last of Us' Insane Popularity Leads to Illegal Scams. Cybercriminals are capitalising on the explosion of interest in The Last of Us, following the release of HBO’s critically acclaimed show. Naughty Dog’s survival horror is one of the biggest brands around right now, and it’s proving fertile ground for felons looking to phish personal information from unsuspecting fans.
Cyber security company Kaspersky has highlighted two scams, one involving a fraudulent website where The Last of Us: Part II is alleged to be available to download. The “game” – only officially released on PS4 thus far – serves as a gateway to get malware on unwitting gamers’ devices. “Users will not know that something is wrong because it may not cause any visible harm while silently doing its job,” the organisation explained.”

“Microsoft's Activision Blizzard Deal Could "Harm" Gamers, UK Regulator Says. The UK's Competitions and Market Authority shared its provisional findings on Microsoft's proposed Activision Blizzard acquisition this week with more bad news for those hoping the transaction goes through. According to the CMA, Microsoft's potential acquisition of the company "could harm UK gamers" via things like higher prices and fewer options when it comes to buying games. Alongside that early verdict, the CMA has also proposed some possible remedies to the problems it's identified, remedies that include some pretty drastic options including divesting Call of Duty entirely.”

“PlayStation is 'crushing' Xbox this generation, says industry expert. According to one industry expert though, PlayStation is currently “crushing” Xbox. It’s not a total surprise as Xbox had a relatively poor 2022. Just think back to The Game Awards. PlayStation’s God of War Ragnarök nabbed an incredible six wins and while Horizon Forbidden West may not have taken home any awards, it was the joint-second most nominated game (alongside Elden Ring). Xbox was pretty much absent from the entire thing. It’s not just awards Xbox missed out on. Their sales are also well below PlayStation’s.”

“RoboCop, Gollum Games Publisher Announces March Livestream Event. The suitably titled 'Nacon Connect' is promising "exclusive updates" on a number of games that it plans on releasing in 2023. This includes the likes of RoboCop: Rogue City and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum — both of which have yet to receive confirmed release dates.”

“PSN Licence Issues Prevent PS5, PS4 Owners from Playing Their Games. A wide-spread issue with PSN, which has occurred before, appears to be preventing PS5 and PS4 owners from playing their games. While it’s not impeding everyone’s experience, many on social media are reporting that they’ve been kicked out of their games – or can’t get them to boot up to begin with.”
