“'Wild Hearts' Is Going Down Well, But The Xbox Series S Version Is Getting Criticism. The free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play trial for Wild Hearts went live on the Xbox Store yesterday ahead of the game's full release on February 16th, and for the most part, it seems like people are enjoying themselves so far!
We've seen plenty of positivity surrounding the gameplay on social media, and quite a few critics have been complementary of the title over the past 24 hours as well (our full review is coming later this week!). So, what's with all the negativity surrounding the Xbox Series S version? Simply put, it sounds like the game isn't very well optimised for Microsoft's mini console, featuring just one graphics mode running at around 900p-1080p resolution and 30 frames per-second, complete with quite a few frame drops every now and again.”

“PS5 Sales Increased 202% in Europe Year-over-Year, Xbox and Nintendo Switch Both Down. PS5 sales increased by an eye-watering 202 per cent year-over-year across Europe in January, underlining Sony’s outrageously aggressive approach to 2023. In fact, the Japanese giant’s new-gen system was the only one to grow on the continent, as Nintendo Switch saw an 11 per cent decline during the same period, while Xbox Series X|S slumped by 32 per cent.”

“Microsoft seeks to explain its own admission Xbox Game Pass lowers base game sales. Yesterday, GamesIndustry.biz highlighted a line from the UK Competition and Markets Authority's provisional report on Microsoft's attempted Activision Blizzard takeover, published last week, in which Microsoft stated that a title's inclusion in Game Pass resulted in a subsequent decline in base game sales. The claim appears to contradict a previous statement by Xbox boss Phil Spencer back in 2018, where he said that titles like Forza Horizon 4 coming to Game Pass lead to increased sales of the game - not fewer.”
