From GameRant

“Microsoft Patent Could Verify Physical Games for Xbox Digital Library. Microsoft files a patent for a method of externally validating ownership of game discs, which could let Xbox Series S players access physical games. Digital games have now become so prevalent that both Xbox and PlayStation's next-gen consoles have versions without disc drives. These digital-only options are cheaper but do leave some players with a few worries. However, Microsoft has now filed a patent for a system which may eliminate one of these worries for Xbox Series S buyers. The patent describes a system that allows an external disc drive to authenticate an Xbox game and allow the player access to the digital version of that game through the Xbox Series S Games Store.”

From Inverse

“The Xbox 360 was supposed to be Microsoft’s big swing in gaming. The original Xbox got a foot in the door, but its successor would be the chance to finally snatch the spotlight away from Sony. The console received early praise when it launched in 2005 thanks to a reasonable $399 price point and a host of killer features like Xbox Live, but an ugly monster quickly reared its head — the Red Ring of Death. Fixing this problem eventually cost Microsoft over a billion dollars. Yet this very public mistake proved invaluable to shaping Xbox as we know it today.”

From Pure Xbox

“Xbox Fans Spot Another 'Project Keystone' Appearance Thanks To Phil Spencer's Shelf. Yesterday, Xbox boss Phil Spencer made another on-camera appearance as he welcomed more of the world to the delights of PC Game Pass. While that was the sole focus of the short clip, fans have once again been scouring the man's shelves to see if they feature any more hidden Xbox secrets.
To our eye we couldn't see much new, but once again, Xbox's cloud gaming device 'Project Keystone' is in full view here. Despite the device being basically delayed indefinitely, it seems to be keeping its spot high on Phil's shelving!”
