Microsoft is planning to refresh its Xbox Series X console in 2024 with an all-new design and features. Codenamed Brooklin, the unannounced console refresh has been accidentally revealed in new FTC v. Microsoft documents this week.
The new Xbox Series X design looks a lot more cylindrical than the existing console and will ship without a disc drive. Internal confidential Microsoft documents reveal it has 2TB of storage (up from 1TB), a USB-C front port with power delivery, and an “all-new, more immersive controller.” According to a new rumor, Microsoft could be preparing to release a brand-new white version of the Xbox Series X that will be digital-only. There have been regular rumors in recent years of Microsoft planning an all-digital Xbox Series X console that would join the existing Series X and the Series S.
Microsoft made a gamble with this console generation by releasing two versions of its console: the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S. The Xbox Series X is a powerful $500 machine that promises top-tier performance from modern games, whereas the Series S is significantly weaker, but comes with a $300 price point and can still play any game that's playable on the Series X. The Series X and S are available now, but some may want to hold off until later this year.
