It is irreversible but since Stadia is dead you shouldn't worry about that. Google search "Stadia Controller Bluetooth mode" you will find Stadia official website that will walk you through the process. The limited time window to upgrade is until December 31st, 2023 so act fast if you want the upgrade. These are also really cheap on eBay if you want to buy used and upgrade.
